If you see a different ship in your hangar than the one you purchased, it’s usually because your original ship is not yet flyable in the Persistent Universe and is still in development.
Why This Happens
When a ship is still being worked on and cannot yet be used in-game, RSI provides a “loaner ship.” This loaner allows you to continue playing Star Citizen while your actual ship is being developed.
The loaner ship is meant to:
- Give you temporary access to gameplay
- Provide a roughly comparable experience until your purchased ship is released
Will I Lose My Original Ship?
No. Your original ship is still on your account. The loaner is only a temporary replacement for in-game use.
Once your ship becomes flyable, the loaner will be removed and replaced by your actual ship.
How to Check Which Loaner You Receive
RSI maintains an official list of loaner ships. You can see the current assignments in the Loaner Ship Matrix on RSI's site.
Notes / Tips
If your purchased ship isn’t flyable yet, RSI automatically assigns a loaner ship so you can still play. This is normal and temporary until development of your ship is complete.
