What is your refund policy?

Modified on Thu, 29 Jan at 1:20 PM

Because of how the Star Citizen / RSI gifting system works, all sales are final in almost all situations. Gifted items can only be gifted one (1) time and become permanently bound to the buyer’s RSI account once claimed.

Returns & Refunds

No Returns / No Refunds (Standard Rule)

We accept absolutely no returns or refunds for any reason once a gift has been claimed.

Exception: Failed Delivery We Can Confirm

A refund may only be possible if:

  • We can confirm a failed delivery on our end, and
  • We are able to cancel the gifting link before it is claimed.

Once a gift link is claimed, the item permanently leaves our inventory and we no longer have any control over it.

Responsibility After Claiming

When a buyer clicks and/or claims a gifting link, it becomes the buyer’s responsibility to contact Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) for any account, hangar, or gifting issues that occur afterward.

Order Cancellations

We May Cancel Orders

We reserve the right to cancel any order for any reason, including sudden price changes from CIG.

If Delivery Can’t Be Completed

If delivery fails or can’t be completed:

  • We may contact you for updated information.
  • If delivery still cannot be completed due to outside/unforeseen circumstances, the transaction will be canceled, the gift link will be made null and void, and the payment will be returned only after we have successfully re-obtained our item(s) back through the gifting system.

BuyerRequested Cancellation Fees

If you request cancellation and we approve it:

  • PayPal fees are not refunded (PayPal no longer returns transaction fees under their current policy).
  • A 5% restocking fee will be deducted from the refunded amount.

CCU’d Items, Melt Value, and Refunds

Some ships/vehicles are labeled “CCU’d”, meaning they were built using discounted Warbond upgrades. As a result:

  • The melt value (RSI credit value if exchanged) may be lower than the current retail price.
  • This does not affect upgrade value — upgrades still use the full RSI retail value.
  • We will not approve refund requests based on a CCU’d item having a lower melt value than retail.
  • CCU’d items are intended to be kept or upgraded, not melted for RSI credits. Melting is done at the buyer’s risk.

Flyable Status & Loaners

Not all ships and vehicles are flyable immediately. Some are still in development. In those cases, CIG provides loaner ships/vehicles until the item is added to the game. Buyers are expected to check flyable status before purchasing.

Buyer Errors & Fraud

  • We are not responsible for mistakes made by the buyer during the purchase process.
  • Any attempted fraud may result in the buyer’s The Impound account, RSI account, and PayPal account being reported and banned for fraudulent activity, and may be reported to the proper authorities.

Disclaimer: Star Citizen Alpha & Balance Changes

Star Citizen is in alpha development and may contain bugs or errors (including ship-related issues). The Impound is not responsible for issues caused by the game developer. CIG may rebalance and change ships, vehicles, items, and package contents at their discretion, with or without notice.

Notes / Tips

Because gifts bind permanently once claimed, refunds are only possible in the rare case of a confirmed failed delivery that we can cancel before claim. Otherwise, all purchases are final.
