Do I always get an upgrade I purchased? So if I upgrade a ship now and melt it later, can I get the upgrade back?

Whether you can recover an upgrade (CCU) after melting depends on whether the upgrade was applied or left unused.

Scenario 1: You Bought an Upgrade but Did Not Use It

If you melt an upgrade separately (meaning you never applied it):

  • You will receive the corresponding store credit value on your RSI account.
  • The upgrade will also appear in your Buyback List, allowing you to buy it back later if needed.

Scenario 2: You Applied the Upgrade, Then Melted the Upgraded Ship

If you apply an upgrade to a ship and later melt the upgraded ship:

  • You will receive the full melt value of the upgraded ship (based on what was paid into it).
  • However, you cannot buy back the upgrade separately.
  • In your Buyback List, you will only be able to buy back the base ship (the original ship without the applied upgrades).

Notes / Tips

  • Unused upgrade melted: You can usually buy it back later.
  • Upgrade applied + ship melted: You can only buy back the base ship, not the applied upgrade.
